stenforSlAssociates is a Los Angeles-based architecture firm that offers a wide range of services to public and private clients. We specialize in architecture that is sustainable, economical and site specific. The firm’s current staff of twelve comes from diverse backgrounds, including architecture, computer modeling, green architecture, infrastructure planning, interior design and the visual arts. S|A has LEED accredited professionals on staff.
The mission in every project is to exceed our client’s expectations. Our first step is to understand our client’s objectives and identify their goals in the short and long term. Excellent design is a result of listening to the client, budget, the community and the users. Our current projects include hotels, restaurants, academic/university projects, health care, and mixed-use housing.
We are members of the American Institute of Architects, the USGBC, the ICBO and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards [NCARB]. We are licensed in the states of California, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Michigan,
We also provide services for interior space planning and design; cost feasibility studies; site selection, analysis and use; urban design; architectural restoration, LEED analysis and graphic design.
Technical services are an exceptional niche of SlA. We provide services for Building Information Modeling (BIM), code research, peer review and shop drawings. stenforSlAssociates architects was founded by Jeffrey Stenfors in June of 2005. Prior to that Jeffrey had been a principal and an owner of the firm Stenfors Pali Fekete architects (SPF:a).
Jeffrey Stenfors AIA, LEED AP

Jeffrey enables clients to build sustainable architecture. A designer and builder of solar collectors in the energy conscious 1970’s, he is a venerable and patient advocate of Green Building. In his approach to green building design, Jeffrey Stenfors adopts a pragmatic attitude weighing the first costs of energy saving features against their long term benefits.
Prior to forming stenforSlAssociates architects and as a principal and owner of Stenfors Pali Fekete architects, Jeffrey was firm principal in charge and the architect of record for many notable projects including the Getty Villa West Campus in Malibu (Design by Machado Silvetti Associates), the UCLA Center for Embedded Networked Sensing, the Virgin Megastore in Disney World, the Wildwood Secondary School, Nascar’s West Coast Offices and the California Spine Institute. Jeffrey also spearheaded the firm’s 3D computer modeling and acute technical services on the Los Angeles Cathedral (Jose Rafael Moneo Architect), the Skirball South Museum (Moshe Safdie Architect ), the UCLA Broad Art Center (Richard Meier Partners) and the Walt Disney Concert Hall (Frank Gehry Architect).
Jeffrey was a project design architect with the award winning firms of Lomax/Rock, Johnson Fain Partners and William Kessler Associates prior to private practice. In New York, with the firm Liebman-Melting, Jeffrey was a project architect for a 411 unit housing project on Grant Street in Denver. In collaboration with noted set designer Robin Wagner, he designed the Studio 19 Theater project for the late choreographer/director Michael Bennett. He also programmed and designed a High School for the Performing Arts on Long Island.
Jeffrey Stenfors graduated from the University of Michigan College of Architecture in 1979.

Managing Partner
Marimi has worked as a business professional for over 20 years. In June 2005, with Jeffrey Stenfors she formed Stenfors Associates Architects Inc as a Minority Woman Business as CEO and Director of Business and Marketing. Her background includes business administration and financial management, as well as marketing and public relations functions. She oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, human resources and banking. She oversees accounting system controls and standards and ensures timely financial and statistical reports for tracking projects and their successful completion.
Dennis McFadden FAIA
Principal
Dennis McFadden’s work of the last 24 years has focused primarily on public institutions including the new 105,000 SF Porterville Courthouse. He is responsible for the design of numerous projects on five different University of California Campuses as well as on a number of other public and private university, college and healthcare campuses. His work has been published in Architecture magazine, Architectural Record, Progressive Architecture, and the Italian publication L’Arca. He has received numerous design awards, including local, state, and national AIA Honor Awards. Dennis received a Master of Architecture degree from Princeton. He has taught at the University of Southern California and is currently on the faculty at Cal Poly Pomona. He has been a member of the Design Review Board at the University of California, Santa Barbara since 2006. Prior to joining Stenfors, Dennis was a Partner for CO Architects for 15 years.
Thomas A. Bruce RA
Principal
Tom has been a design, management and technical force upon joining stenforS|Associates. He is currently our project manager in charge of the Boelter Hall Lab Renovations Project. He was also the Associate Project Architect for the completed Terasaki Life Sciences Building and worked extensively with BCJ and the Engineering team on the TLSB site and infrastructure coordination. His past experience includes numerous renovation projects in his native Philadelphia. Tom was the Project Architect for the Palihouse Hall, the Bistrotek Restaurant & the Custom Hotel Renovation.
As a Principal in the firm, Tom works with our Project Designers and teams to follow the projects from inception to completion. Tom works to assure that information flows efficiently to the people who need it, and that the design team is brought together to ensure constant and timely progress on the project.
